„Dictations – how uncle Stanislaw taught Michal to write without spelling mistakes”

This volume is a collections of short texts from a different reality.  The book was created in 1970 as a spelling aid for Michal Zych, Lem's wife's nephew.  The Dictations, published for the first time in 2001, are full of absurd humor, an eruption of fantastic, sometimes cruel imagination.  They can be compared to drawings and texts of the classic of black humor – Roland Topor.  These may be the funniest of Lem's works.  Particularly amusing is the combination of absurdity with a meticulous choice of overly abundant words that are difficult to spell.
